What are some possible reasons for the low local patent application filing numbers?

Some local invention patent applications are converted by the applicants into utility model applications. There may also be a number of IP-potential research outputs for which the researchers have not sought IP protection, and will therefore not be captured in the IP system.

Why is there a low number of local invention patent application grants?

Statistically speaking, as IPOPHL receives a very limited number of local applications, naturally the number of granted local applications will also be low.
