Admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1997, Atty. da Costa-Villaluz obtained her Juris Doctor from Ateneo De Manila University School of Law in 1996. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of the Philippines School of Economics in 1992.

Atty. da Costa-Villaluz started her legal career as an associate of De Borja Medialdea Bello Gueverra & Gerodias, followed by a 26-year stint at Poblador Bautista & Reyes Law Offices where she was a Partner until she put up her own law office.

She is an intellectual property (IP) advocate who focuses on IP rights protection and enforcement.

Throughout her career, Atty. da Costa-Villaluz has been recognized for her expertise in IP law, earning accolades such as being named a Trademark Star by Managing IP in 2021 and 2022, as well as being featured in Asia IP Informed Analysis IP Expert in 2023 and 2024. She has also been commended by Legal 500 for her exceptional work in IP prosecution.

Atty. da Costa-Villaluz is wife to Atty. Nick Emmanuel C. Villaluz and mother to Rafael D. Villaluz.
