IPOPHL Partners with PayMaya to Expand Online Payment Channels

October 13, 2020

In an effort to enable more Filipinos to protect their intellectual property (IP) assets in safer and more convenient ways, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) has added PayMaya into its payment options for all its online services.

IPOPHL Director General Rowel S. Barba and PayMaya Founder and CEO Orlando B. Vea signed on Oct. 8, 2020 the memorandum of agreement that expands IPOPHL's payment gateways for new trademark applications, new patent applications, and post-registration compliance requirements, among others.

“We are very pleased to partner with one of the country’s leading remittance networks in providing Filipinos with a new mode of transacting with IPOPHL. In this way, the public can look forward to a fast, secure, and convenient way of paying for their transactions with IPOPHL,” Barba said.

“More importantly, given PayMaya’s robust share of the online transacting public, IPOPHL’s broad range of services will be made accessible to a wider public, encouraging Filipinos to create more intellectual properties and protect them through IPOPHL,” he added.

For his part, PayMaya’s Vea said the signed partnership has “a very special meaning” to the fintech company.

“As the ultimate beneficiaries of IPOPHL are the knowledge creators themselves and Paymaya is part of this creative community that serves as an engine of growth for this county,” Vea said.

IPOPHL will soon be partnering with more fintechs aside from PayMaya to add to its digital payment ecosystem and allow more innovators and creators to leverage its services. ### (Janina Lim, Media Relations Officer)
