IPOPHL PARTICIPATES IN REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON EFFECTIVE PRACTICES IN BORDER ENFORCEMENT OF IPR

Bangkok, Thailand –Recognizing the importance of sharing international best practices and the latest information on emerging trends and challenges in cross-border IPR enforcement, the Philippines participated in the Regional Workshop on Effective Practices in Border Enforcement of IPR held in Bangkok, Thailand on 12-15 September 2017. Representatives from IPOPHL, as led by Director General Josephine Santiago, and prosecutors from the Department of Justice joined the discussions on a whole of government approach to IPR enforcement, including through national and international inter-agency coordination on IPR crimes detection, investigation, and leading to prosecution. Enforcement officials from Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam attended the Workshop that was organized by the USPTO Global IP Academy and the U.S. Department of Justice, in cooperation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection andHomeland Security Investigations, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and with the support of the U.S. Department of State INL Program.
