With the advent of e-commerce, incidence of online counterfeiting and piracy has surfaced. With the onset of the pandemic, this problem exacerbated as people resorted to purchasing products online without the opportunity to examine or scrutinize the products and the need to buy affordable products to lessen costs for their needs.  Thus, there is a need to increase awareness of the public against the ill effects of counterfeiting and piracy.

One of ANIEE's enforcement initiatives, particularly 12.1 thereof, is on Information Awareness Activities and Private Sector Involvement in Anti-piracy and Anti-Counterfeiting Efforts in the ASEAN. This digital poster and video-making contest are in line with the 12.1 initiative of ANIEE and aims to increase the awareness of the public on intellectual property and develop respect for it through their participation in this activity and the use of these posters in IP awareness campaign in the ASEAN. 

For the national level contest, five (5) winners will be chosen for each contest:

  • 1st place: Php 15,000.00 and  will be the PHL official entry to the regional contest
  • 2nd place: Php10,000.00
  • 3rd place:  Php 7,000.00
  • Two (2) consolation prizes:  Php 3,000.00 

All prizes are subject to tax.

National Level entries should follow the Regional Contest Mechanics except submission shall be coursed through operations@ipophil.gov.ph.

Video Making Contest

THEME: IP and Youth: Digital Enforcement, Innovating for a Better Future

Eligibility:

The contest is open to individuals/group ages 15-35 years old who are nationals or residents of the ASEAN Member States.

Video

  1. Videos should run between 1- 3 minutes in duration.
  2. Entries must be in English and appropriate for all audiences with respect to language, visual content, presentation, themes discussed, and related issues.
  3. All entries must be completed in English, and videos must include content that is entirely understandable to an English-speaking audience. Sub-titles may be provided in the local language of the entrant/s.
  4. Video entry must comply with the YouTube Terms of Service and Community Guidelines including other social media such as but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.
  5. Videos must be original, the sole property of entrants, and not been previously submitted to any other contest except for the purpose of this contest at the national level.
  6. If images of people or faces which enable identification are included in the submission, it shall be accompanied by written consent of said person/s for the use of such images in compliance with relevant applicable data privacy laws.
  7. ANIEE reserves the right to cancel the contest or modify these rules at its discretion. Decisions of ANIEE are final and binding.

 Submission of Entries

    1. Each participant/group may submit only ONE ENTRY.
    2. The submission of entries is extended until August 7, 2022 (11:59PM PH Time).
    3. Electronic time stamp shall determine timeliness of submission.
    4. Applicants must store their video in their respective google drive, fill out the Official Entry Form, and submit the google drive link and the filled form to IEO at operations@ipophil.gov.ph
    5. ASEC will publish entries in its official YouTube channel or other social media account on 01 September 2022.
      • Guidelines and other necessary information with regard to the activity are also indicated in the abovementioned form.
    6. Naming convention: entry file should be named as follows: ANIEE Video Contest_ TITLE OF VIDEO_ Name of Entrant/s _Name of Country.
    7. By submitting an entry, the contestant agrees to all of the competition rules and mechanics, including the decision of the judges.

Intellectual Property 

  1. By submitting an entry, the entrant(s) represents that the video is an original work, and the entrant(s) is the sole owner of all rights to the video.
  2. The entrant(s) also agrees to allow ANIEE to use their names in relation to this contest. Each entrant(s) retain/s his/her/their copyright to his/her/their video but grants to ASEAN and/or ANIEE a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to publicly display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works of the video, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or later developed, for any ANIEE purpose, including, but not limited to, education and promotion. ANIEE will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.
  3. Submission of entry constitutes permission to use the entrant’s name for presentations, promotions and information campaigns without additional compensation. All entries shall automatically become the property of ANIEE, however, the copyright over the submitted work/entry shall remain with the artist, subject to the licenses granted herein.  
  4. Contestants affirm that their submissions are their own original work, have not been copied from others or from previous designs, including their own, and do not violate the intellectual property rights of any other person or entity.

Criteria for Selection of Winners

  1. The winners will be selected by a panel of judges, whose decision will be final.
  2. Entries will be judged according to the following criteria:
    • CONTENT and ADHERENCE TO THE THEME- 40%
    • CREATIVITY - 40%
    • OVER-ALL IMPACT- 20%

OVERALL TOTAL – 100 %

Prizes for the Regional Level

  1. There will be one winning video from all the entries. Cash prizes will be given to three winners.
    • 1st Prize: 500 USD + complementary registration to the INTA 2023 Annual Meeting in Singapore
    • 2nd Prize: USD 300
    • 3rd Prize : USD 200
  1. The winners will be notified via email and will also be announced on the ASEAN IP Portal and social media accounts.
  2. Cash prizes will be awarded through bank transfers.
  3. Taxes on the prizes shall be borne by the winners according to their national law.

Digital Poster Making Contest

THEME: Respecting Intellectual Property Rights in the Midst of the Pandemic to Protect MSMEs.

Eligibility:

The contest is open to individual ages 15-35 years old who are nationals or residents of the ASEAN Member States.

Rules and Regulations 

  1. Size of the poster must be A4 (8.27” x 11.69”) (300 DPI) in PORTRAIT orientation.
  2. Each participant must submit a video for the evidence for poster making.
  3. The participants are free to use Photoshop, Paint or any graphics software to express their creativity. 
  4. Entries should be in high resolution JPEG format, preferably with minimum dimensions of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and 300 dpi. Maximum file size should be 10MB.
  5. Entries must be a static digital image that is an original creation by the participant.
  6. Each entry must be accompanied by a brief artist’s statement of no more than 100 words.
  7. Entries submitted in previous competitions are disqualified.
  8. Entries that violate trademark and copyright laws and those with explicit and malicious content that incites prejudice on race, sex, religion, and other forms of human and animal rights are disqualified.
  9. If images of people or faces are included in the submission, it shall be accompanied by written consent for the use of such images in compliance with  relevant applicable data privacy laws .

Intellectual Property 

  1. Contestants affirm that their submissions are their own original work, have not been copied from others or from previous designs, including their own, and do not violate the intellectual property rights of any other person or entity.

  1. ANIEE is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, or otherwise unusable entries, including entries that are corrupted due to computer virus, poor internet connectivity or electronic device problems.
