JPO IP RIGHTS 2019 TRAINING COURSE

The Human Resource Development Division (HRDD) and the IPOPHL Foreign Training Assessment Committee (FTAC) are pleased to announce that the Japan Patent Office (JPO) through the Japan Institute for Promoting Invention and Innovation (JIPII) and the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS) has offered the following courses on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) as part of their human resource development activities for fiscal 2019.

 

Applicants who are qualified and interested to attend are invited to secure the application forms from the Human Resource Development Division (HRDD) of Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines – 2nd Floor, Intellectual Property Center, 28 Upper McKinley Hill Town Center, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City or download the forms in this website and submit the same on the specified dates below. Please take note that no extension will be granted for submission of applications.

 

Applicants are also reminded to pay careful attention to the qualification requirements needed for each course.

A. JPO/IPR Training Course for Practitioners Specializing in Patents

 


Period of Course: October 16 - November 1, 2019
[Application Deadline: July 12, 2019]

 


Objective: To enhance one’s knowledge on intellectual property in general, and also deepen one’s understanding and enhance one’s professional capabilities in terms of patent practices such as acquiring knowledge on the outline of the patent system, preparing specifications and drawings, handling office actions, making amendments, judging patentability, considering patents for innovative technology, using patent information, and handling operations involving licensing.

 

Target Participants (must meet all of the following requirements):

 


(1) Target participants must be Patent attorneys and IP lawyers with an experience in drafting patent specifications or;
(2) Patent practitioners who have experience drafting patent specifications in the private sector;
(3) Have considerable knowledge of the IPR system, with more than 3 years of experience in the field of IPR;
(4) Target participants should not have participated in any JPO/IPR training courses conducted from FY 2017-2019, in principle;
(5) Target participants should be under 50 years of age;

1. JPO/IPR Training Application Form (Parts 1-6)

*Important: Part 1 of the Application Form is to be signed by the representative of the applicant’s company/organization (not by the applicant), while Parts 2-6 are to be signed by the applicant. All sections should be completed

 B. JPO/IPR Training Course for IP Protection Lawyers

 

Period of Course:

November 18 – December 4, 2019

[Application Deadline: August 9, 2019]

 

Objective: To deepen one’s understanding on IP rights and to enhance one’s professional capabilities, by hearing lectures and holding discussions, comparing different countries’ legislative systems, finding methods for determining infringements of industrial property rights, (i.e., interpreting technical scopes applicable to patent inventions), and studying IPR infringement lawsuits.

 

Target Participants (must meet all of the following requirements):

 

(1) Target participants must be Judge and/or Prosecutor, Patent attorneys and/or IP lawyers;

(2) Have considerable knowledge of the IPR system, with more than 3 years of experience in

the field of IPR;

(3) Target participants should not have participated in any JPO/IPR training courses conducted from FY 2017-2019, in principle;

(4) Target participants should be under 50 years of age;

 

Application Requirements:

C. JPO/IPR Training Course for Practitioners Specializing in Trademarks

 

Period of Course:

February 13 – 27, 2020

[Application Deadline: October 16, 2019]

 

Objective: To deepen one’s knowledge on intellectual property in general, as well as to deepen one’s understanding of and enhance one’s professional capabilities on trademark practices, by hearing lectures and holding discussions on the trademark system, trademark examination standards of the Madrid System, and the use of trademark information.

 

Target Participants (must meet all of the following requirements):

 

(1) Target participants must be Patent/Trademark attorneys and/or IP lawyers that are involved

or related in trademark practices and/or;

(2) It can also be Employees who engaged in trademark practices in private sector;

(3) Have considerable knowledge of the IPR system, with more than 3 years of experience in

the field of IPR;

(4) Target participants should not have participated in any JPO/IPR training courses conducted

from FY 2017-2019, in principle;

(5) Target participants should be under 50 years of age;
