How to Apply for Trademark Registration

  • Choose Application Type and input basic details

  • Select the appropriate mark type: Word Mark, Figurative Mark, Figurative Mark with Word, or 3D Mark.
  • For figurative or figurative with word mark applications, have your logo file ready before proceeding.
  • If registering in color, tick the color checkbox and specify the required color description. Otherwise, the mark will automatically be converted into black and white.

Step 3

  • Select Goods/Services Classification
    • Click “I want to provide my list” and select the applicable class or classes.
    • Refer to the hyperlinked classification resources (i.e., Madrid Goods and Services Manager, WIPO Nice Classification, or Harmonized Database for Nice Classification) within the system to identify the correct goods/services class.

Disregard the system warning that appears and click “Next” to proceed.

 

Step 4

  • Indicate priority claim, if applicable (e.g., for applications with previously filed trademark in another jurisdiction)
    • Click “No” if no priority claim is being made.

  • Fill out the Applicant details. If you have an Authorized Representative kindly fill out the portion as well, then click the “next” button.

    • Provide complete details of the applicant.
    • If applicable, indicate the trademark authorized agent/representative’s details.
    • The system currently accommodates one (1) email address per application.
    • Official notices will be sent to the email address of the applicant (or the authorized agent/representative, if any) indicated in the application.

Note: Ensure the correct email address is entered, as this will be the primary contact for official correspondence.

Step 5

  • Review Application & Select Applicable Declarations

    • Carefully review all application details before submission.
    • Tick the applicable checkboxes:
    • Declaration of Small Entity (for applicants with total assets of Php100 million or less)
    • Priority Examination (if applicable and compliant with the relevant rules)
    • Declaration of Actual Use (if a DAU will be submitted together with the application)
    • Special Power of Attorney (if a representative is filing on behalf of the applicant)
    • Youth Filer (if applicable)
    • Payor/Payment Details

Step 6

  • Complete Payment via IPOPHL E-Payment Channels
  • Proceed to payment using any of the available IPOPHL e-payment channels.
  • Accepted channels include Maya (formerly PayMaya), credit/debit cards, and other supported platforms.
  • Retain your payment confirmation as proof of filing.

Note:

  • The eSOA (Statement of Account) and e-filing acknowledgement receipt will be sent to the nominated email address upon submission.
  • Date of payment is also considered as the filing date
  • Once payment is received and confirmed in the IPOPHL system, a second acknowledgement will be sent containing the mark details and the designated Application Number.
