The Gawad Yamang Isip recognizes Filipinos who have shown distinct ingenuity and talent in their specific fields using the IP system in the process. It is conferred to individuals and institutions who have significantly contributed to improving the Filipinos’ quality of life through their IP assets.
The 2024 GYI puts the spotlight on Filipinos whose inventions, innovations, and works are aligned with the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
Eligibility Criteria
- Individuals, organizations, or institutions actively involved in the creation, development, protection, and commercialization of intellectual property;
- Nominees should have made substantial contributions to the advancement of IP rights and have demonstrated exceptional achievements in any of the following categories:
- Invention
- Industrial Design
- Trademarks
- Copyright and Related Rights – Literature
- Copyright and Related Rights – Performing Arts
- Nominees must be Filipino citizens or Filipino-owned legal entities operating in the Philippines.
Selection process:
- All submissions will be reviewed and verified by the GYI Secretariat for shortlisting;
- Shortlisted nominees will be deliberated on by an external panel with the IPOPHL Director General and Deputy Director General;
- The awardees will be announced during the Gawad Yamang Isip Awards Night to be held on 29 April 2024
