Accupower Distributors, Inc. joins E-Commerce MOU to protect products against online counterfeiting
February 2, 2026
Industrial wholesaler and distributor Accupower Distributors, Inc. (ADI) has joined the E-Commerce Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on January 28, marking its formal commitment to strengthen measures in addressing online counterfeiting related to its product lines.
The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) facilitated ADI’s induction into the MOU, a move that comes amid growing concerns over the rampant distribution of counterfeit industrial products through online channels, particularly fake or unauthorized versions of its flagship products from Japanese industrial companies Bando and Fujibelt.
These counterfeit products not only harm business interests and brand integrity but also pose significant risks to ADI customers as their products are used widely in machinery and automotive applications.
“More than the lost revenue of the rightful intellectual property (IP) owner of the brand, a fake belt means a machinery that might fail, a car that might break down or a factory that stops running,” said Allan T. Hao Chin, Vice President for Sales and Marketing at ADI. “This is why today’s signing is significant to us. As we concretize our participation in this MOU with major e-commerce platforms, with the support of IPOPHL, we can now move from passive frustration to proactive collaboration with the relevant stakeholders.”
ADG Arevalo welcomed ADI’s entry into the MOU as evidence of the growing awareness of the collaboration as an effective measure to address the proliferation of counterfeit goods online.
“We have long recognized that counterfeit spare parts directly compromise public safety,” said ADG Arevalo. “Through this commitment to make available only quality and genuine products in the market, we can ensure that we uphold ADI’s IP rights and at the same time, prioritize public safety.”
“By joining this E-Commerce MOU, ADI gains access to a proactive framework designed to identify and remove counterfeit listings, directly addressing the digital challenges it encounters,” Dir. Pangilinan-Canlapan said.
ADI specializes in the importation and distribution of industrial belting and related power transmission products nationwide and serves as the flagship Philippine distributor of belting solutions from Japanese industrial brands Bando and Fujibelt.
Through its participation in the E-Commerce MOU, ADI reinforces its commitment to protecting IP, ensuring the safety of its industrial customers and promoting a fair and trustworthy marketplace for their goods in the Philippines. # # # (Rawl Maliwat, Communications & Marketing Writer)
