PRIVACY NOTICE
Creative Pursuits
Effective Date: August 31, 2026 | Last Updated: June 25, 2026
The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (“IPOPHL,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), through its partnership with Cadre Creative Labs OPC, developed and operates the mobile game Creative Pursuits (the “Game”, “App”) under its Copyright Plus Program. IPOPHL is committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who uses the Game, including children. This Privacy Notice explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you (or, if you are a parent or guardian, your child) have over that information.
This Privacy Notice is issued in compliance with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), its Implementing Rules and Regulations, and applicable issuances of the National Privacy Commission (NPC), as well as the data disclosure requirements of the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
1. Who We Are
IPOPHL is the personal information controller for the Game. Our office address is:
Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines
Intellectual Property Center, #28 Upper McKinley Road
McKinley Hill Town Center, Fort Bonifacio
Taguig City 1634, Philippines
Email: copyright@ipophl.gov.ph
If you have questions, concerns, or requests relating to this Privacy Notice or to your personal information, please contact us using the details above.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the minimum amount of personal information needed to let you create an account, save your progress, and use the Game's features.
a. Information You Provide Directly
- Email address — used to create your account, verify your identity, send important notices, and assist with account recovery.
- Username — a name you choose (or that is generated for you) to identify your profile and appear to other players where applicable. Please do not use your real full name or other identifying details as your username.
b. Information Collected Through Sign-In With a Third-Party Account
Creative Pursuits allows you to sign in using a third-party account (such as a Google or Apple account) instead of creating a new password. When you choose this option:
- We receive only the limited profile information that the provider shares with us based on your settings, typically a name, email address, and a unique identifier confirming the account belongs to you.
- We do not receive or store your password for that third-party account.
- Your use of the sign-in provider is also governed by that provider's own privacy policy. We encourage you to review it.
- Sign-in providers integrated with the Game are limited to those that meet platform requirements for use in apps that may be accessed by children.
c. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not request or collect your real name, home address, phone number, precise location, payment or financial information, or government-issued identification through the Game. We do not use advertising or analytics software development kits (SDKs) in the Game, and the Game does not display third-party advertisements.
3. Use of the Game by Children
Creative Pursuits is designed for a general audience that may include children under 13 years old.
- We collect only the information described in Section 2 (email and username, or the limited profile data shared through third-party sign-in) and never collect more personal information from a child than is reasonably necessary for the child to participate in the Game.
- Where a child's use of the Game requires creation of an account, we rely on the consent of a parent or legal guardian for the collection of that child's personal information, consistent with the Data Privacy Act and applicable platform requirements (such as the Google Play Families Policy and equivalent Apple App Store requirements for kids' apps).
- We do not knowingly enable children to publicly share personal information, and we do not use children's personal information for behavioral advertising or for any purpose other than operating the Game's core features.
- A parent or guardian may contact us at copyright@ipophl.gov.ph at any time to review, correct, or request deletion of their child's personal information, or to withdraw previously given consent. Upon withdrawal of consent, we will deactivate the related account and delete the associated personal information, except where retention is required by law.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us without your consent, please contact us immediately so we can address it.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the personal information we collect only for the following purposes:
- To create, maintain, and secure your Game account;
- To authenticate you when you log in, including through third-party sign-in;
- To save and restore your game progress, achievements, and in-game preferences;
- To communicate with you about your account, such as verification emails, password resets, or important service announcements;
- To respond to your inquiries, feedback, or support requests;
- To maintain the security, integrity, and proper functioning of the Game, including preventing fraud, cheating, or abuse;
- To comply with legal obligations, including those under the Data Privacy Act and other applicable Philippine laws.
We do not use your personal information for advertising, profiling for marketing purposes, or any purpose unrelated to providing and improving the Game.
5. Legal Basis for Processing
Consistent with the Data Privacy Act of 2012, we process your personal information based on one or more of the following:
- Your consent, given upon account registration (or, for children, the consent of a parent or guardian);
- The necessity of processing to fulfill our contract with you, i.e., to provide the Game and its features;
- Compliance with a legal obligation; and/or
- Our legitimate interest in maintaining the security and proper functioning of the Game, where this interest does not override your fundamental rights.
6. How We Store and Protect Your Information
We implement reasonable and appropriate organizational, physical, and technical security measures to protect your personal information against accidental or unlawful destruction, alteration, disclosure, or access, in line with the Data Privacy Act and NPC guidelines. These measures include:
- Encryption of data in transit between your device and our servers/service providers;
- Access controls limiting who within IPOPHL and our service providers may access personal information, on a need-to-know basis;
- Use of reputable cloud infrastructure providers that maintain industry-standard security certifications;
- Regular review of our data handling practices.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
7. Data Storage and International Transfer
Your information may be stored on cloud servers operated by our third-party service providers (for example, cloud storage and authentication providers), which may be located outside the Philippines. Where this occurs, we require that such service providers maintain a comparable standard of data protection, consistent with the requirements of the Data Privacy Act for cross-border data transfers.
8. Sharing and Disclosure of Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We only disclose your personal information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We may share information with vetted third-party providers that help us operate the Game (for example, cloud hosting and authentication/sign-in providers), strictly for the purpose of providing their services to us and under contractual confidentiality and data protection obligations.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, court order, or a valid request from the National Privacy Commission or other competent Philippine government authority.
- Protection of rights: We may disclose information where necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of IPOPHL, players of the Game, or the public, such as in cases of suspected fraud or security incidents.
9. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active, and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required by law to retain certain records (such as for audit or legal compliance purposes under Philippine government recordkeeping rules).
10. Your Rights
Under the Data Privacy Act of 2012, you (or, for a child user, their parent or guardian) have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to be informed of the collection and processing of your personal information;
- Right to access your personal information that we hold;
- Right to object to the processing of your personal information;
- Right to erasure or blocking of your personal information, including deletion of your account;
- Right to rectify inaccurate or incomplete personal information;
- Right to data portability, where applicable;
- Right to damages for any damage sustained due to inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, false, unlawfully obtained, or unauthorized use of your personal information;
- Right to file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at copyright@ipophl.gov.ph. We will respond to your request within a reasonable period in accordance with the Data Privacy Act.
11. Account and Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time by:
- Using the in-app account deletion option (if available within the Game's settings); or
- Emailing copyright@ipophl.gov.ph with the subject line “Creative Pursuits — Account Deletion Request,” including the email address or username associated with your account.
Once verified, we will delete your account and the personal information associated with it (including your email address, username, and saved game data), except for information we are required to retain by law. We aim to complete deletion requests within a reasonable period from verification.
12. Children's Online Privacy and Parental Controls
In addition to Section 3 above, parents and guardians can take the following steps:
- Review the personal information collected from their child by contacting us at copyright@ipophl.gov.ph;
- Request correction or deletion of their child's personal information;
- Refuse to permit further collection or use of their child's personal information and request account deactivation;
- Use the parental control features made available by the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, or the device's operating system to manage their child's app usage.
13. Changes to This Privacy Notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the Game's features, or applicable law. If we make material changes, we will notify users through the Game or by other reasonable means, and will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Notice. We encourage you to review this Notice periodically.
