Wall art along Jupiter Street . The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IP Philippines) in celebration of the intellectual property rights (IPR) week invited visual artists from the group Wee Will Doodle to “doodle” on its wall recently. The office launched a series of activities for the month to celebrate the IPR week slated on October 22 to 26 as declared in Presidential Proclamation No. 79 (1992). With the theme “Great Idea! Intellectual Property Rights Week Celebrates Creativity”, the month-long calendar of events includes the Open House series of the office, activities that are open to the public such as IPR seminars, art competition, exhibitions, and storytelling sessions; international seminars on patent; training programs under the Intellectual Property Rights Protection (IPROTECT) Training and other activities. Intellectual property rights – patents, trademarks, and copyrights – have gained universal importance as a strategic tool for social and economic development. |
